Grande Prairie Alliance Church

This 1200 seat worship space was planned at the hub of classroom, administrative and recreational space totaling 60,000 square feet. With room to grow, the building has been designed to accommodate an additional 17,000 square feet of future development.

The ‘cloud’ ceiling system in the Sanctuary provides a more intimate gathering space while also benefitting lighting and sound in the space.

The efficient construction of the building accommodated the required spaces while keeping the project on budget. Key finishes at the entrance and atrium provide warmth and scale the otherwise expansive building size.

The foyer blends the exterior architectural motif to the interior and is balanced by the library and the cade to create and alternative social gathering locations in addition to the expansive atrium space.

The cafe (left) serves as a welcoming multi-use area located between the Atrium and Gymnasium and is located just off the main entry.

The Atrium functions as an “interior street” that provides and additional informal gathering space and connects all key aspects of the building.

The church features a full industrial Kitchen including a walk-in cold storage. Other spaces, such as the Gymnasium and classrooms, promote multi-use flexibility with divisible spaces. A secondary entry provides direct access to offices board room and other staff areas.

This project demonstrates HFA’s abilities in Master Planning large scale facilities, interactive planning with user groups, gym design, and implementation, project phasing and budget control.

An additional future development has been planned to accommodate more classrooms, sanctuary and backstage, a youth wing and a 300 seat chapel.
